My name is Shaun Cozzens. I am a fourth generation law enforcement professional, husband and father of two. I began cycling at the age of 8 with my father. Eventually, we rode across the country when I was 17 and raised money for nonprofit organizations dear to our hearts.
My son found a love for cycling as well at the age of 7. We started out giving ourselves small goals as we rode around town. That eventually led to much longer rides and bigger goals. We decided to create an Instagram page to document our endeavors @cullenscrazycyclingcrew. Numerous training sessions and a few triathlons later, we have decided to put our training and bonding time towards an extremely important cause. My son is now 10 years old. My daughter (now 7) and my wife have decided to join in on the fun. The whole family now participates in racing events and fundraising endeavors. We have also begun to bring on partners with the same devotion to caring for our First Responders in times of need.
As we all know, mental health, PTSD, addiction and depression are prevalent in today’s world. As First Responders, there seems to be a stigma and lack of ability to discuss these issues; yet the industry requires First Responders to deal with numerous traumatic events daily. Suicide rates are at an all time high. Unfortunately, these deaths are not seen as “line of duty deaths”, which eliminates all financial support to the surviving family. Even line of duty deaths place the surviving family members into financial hardship. Mental health issues can be debilitating and cause great stress; at times rendering the First Responder unable to work.
Our goal is to continue our involvement as a family in outdoor activities, races and events while raising money through donations to help provide financial support to the children and families of First Responders in times of need.
Our family thanks you for your support.
The Cozzens Family
As a family, we enjoy many outdoor activities. Our goal is to use our involvement in cycling, triathlons, races, hosting fundraisers and events in order to gain donations. With the money received, we will provide financial support to the families of First Responders in times of need. Please consider donating $1/per mile or a flat rate during these racing events. We have memberships available to donate a monthly amount as a tax deductible donation. With your help, we can be there when our First Responder heroes and their families need someone to help them.
From our family to yours, we thank you greatly for your support!
